Our Afternoon Tea at North Hants Golf Club in August was a great success! 70 people came, and enjoyed a lovely setting with a delicious tea : sandwiches, scones and cream, then cakes with as much tea as you could drink. There were quite literally gasps of astonishment as some people entered the lounge/dining area. It all looked marvellous!
One aspect that I particularly liked was that we were a real cross-section of the various parts of the branch : people who come to Tuesday meetings, people who attend the Tuesday Pilates class in Fleet, people who attend the Thursday exercise to music class in Badshot Lea and people who haven’t been recently to our activities for one reason or another. On several of the tables, people were meeting up for the first time – and yet there was a friendly buzz of conversation throughout.
The whole afternoon was made possible by Mavis Pocock, our Treasurer and a member at North Hants. She suggested the event, negotiated the date, agreed the menu, received all the reply slips and thought of all the little details which added up to make it such a pleasant affair. For example, she made sure we were allocated the car park nearerst the entrance to make easy access to the clubhouse.
Those of you who were at our last afternoon tea (at Farnham House Hotel) know that we will long remember that for all the wrong reasons. We will remember our visit to North Hants Golf Club for all the right reasons!
